DECADES

DECADES is a visual history of video game branding, presented through a series of comic-book inspired advertisements. The thesis consists of six 18” × 24” posters, each representing a different era of video game marketing from the 1970s to the 2020s. Through a blend of illustration, photography, and typography, the posters highlight how advertising strategies evolved across five decades and across multiple companies. By framing video games, a relatively young artistic medium, within the language of comic book advertising, DECADES celebrates their impact on design culture.

This project reflects my belief that new media deserves recognition within fine art. Video games and digital art are often dismissed, yet they are created with intention, care, and passion. DECADES is both a tribute and a challenge. It is a celebration of the medium’s versatility and a call to value contemporary forms of art-making as legitimate and impactful.
