The Joys of Life
The Joys of Life is a series of paintings that celebrates the daily happiness of dogs. Each piece features a dog placed in a patterned environment, with color and design choices inspired by their unique personality. These dogs are ones I interact with every day at the dog daycare I own, and that personal connection allows me to translate their energy, quirks, and emotions onto the canvas. Rather than reinforcing the common idea that dogs exist primarily to bring joy to humans, this series flips the narrative. I focus instead on what brings dogs joy like curling up on a blanket, playing with friends, or simply existing in moments of contentment. Dogs experience life with a depth of emotion and individuality that often mirrors our own. Through vibrant patterns and expressive color, these paintings highlight the simple, genuine pleasures that make a dog’s world rich and full.
